The step-well at Neemrana built at one end of the town constitutes well planned and elaborately executed which served a great utilitarian purpose for provision of water supply. It comprises Nine storey in elevation aligned in East-West directions measuring about 93 mts and width of 22 mts in north-south direction. In the rear side, there is a deep well having depth of approximate 50 mts. with a through each storey is connected with the well through a small opening/window. Whole Baori is built below the ground surface. Storeys go on diminishing in size downward. The top storey of the structure consists of alternately arranged large and small cells along three sides. Each storey is provided with projected chhajjas in inner sides.
The Baori is said to be constructed by the local Chauhan ruler Raja Maha Singh in Vikram Samvat 1797 (1740 C.E.). It represents a perfect developed stage of perfect step-well construction and water management systemin the bygone ages and seems to be the largest and unparalleled in the region.
It is declared as a monument of national importance by the Archaeological Survey of India vide Notification No. 4900(E) dated. 19.09.2018.
